2D6 Belief Engine is one of the most ingenious RPG systems I’ve come across. Its potential is enormous. On one hand, the idea that your beliefs can shape reality—and that this abstract concept is translated into a functional game mechanic—is nothing short of brilliant.
On the other hand: ONLY TWO SIX-SIDED DICE! No d20s, d10s, d8s, d12s, or funky dice pyramids required. Who doesn’t have two regular dice lying around? Heck, steal one from a Parcheesi set if you have to.
The system is simple, easy to follow, and, as Nico puts it:
“The rules serve the story, not the other way around.”
Translation? If a rule gets in the way or becomes a pain, ditch it. Story comes first.
I’ve played a lot of systems over the years—D&D, RuneQuest, MERP (yep, I’m old-school)—and I genuinely find the Belief Engine to be one of the most refreshing takes on roleplaying I’ve seen in a long time.

I've recently uncovered a most fascinating set of reports from the grimy underbelly of New Sodom's police department. These documents—stained with whiskey, blood, and substances I dare not identify—chronicle the exploits of one Inspector Sevilla.
Do not be fooled by his perpetually rumpled trenchcoat or the questionable stains on his tie. Behind that unshaven facade and frequently bloodshot eyes lies what might generously be called a detective's mind. Inspector Sevilla stumbles through New Sodom's demon districts and angelic territories with all the grace of a drunken bull, yet somehow emerges—usually battered, occasionally triumphant—with cases improbably solved.
His methods are unorthodox, to put it charitably. Where other officers might employ forensics, Sevilla uses a combination of blind luck, misguided confidence, and an uncanny ability to irritate suspects into confession. His reports frequently mention "hunches" that lead him to kick down precisely the wrong doors before accidentally finding the right one.
Yet in a city where demonic crime lords broker deals with corrupt officials and angels turn a blind eye to the right offerings, perhaps Sevilla's bumbling approach is exactly what's needed—a chaotic element in an already fractured reality.
